Day 5

Choose your path home today. You could head south along the coast from Houghton/Hancock, and enjoy one last ride along the Lake Superior shoreline - that is, until next year - or you can head back inland towards Eagle River, WI and head down through the middle of the state. Regardless, take a minute to say goodbye to Lake Superior this morning.  She has been your companion for the last couple days.  You'll remember your last glimpse of her for a long time.

The map on the left shows the shortest way home.  This is approximately 415 miles back to the Schaumburg Area. 

The map on the right shows another way to get back without having to go through all the traffic in Milwaukee and Chicago.  This route would add another 30 miles

Take your pick for the way home. There will surely be groups of people heading in both directions, so groups should form naturally for the ride home.  

Either way, take a page out of the Book of Trank and keep your speed reasonable. Wisconsin cops tend to enjoy ticketing us FIBs, even if we're going with the flow of traffic. Instead, enjoy the last couple hours of the trip and let the memories burn into your mind. See you next year.
