Charity: ATL 2002

We're glad that you've decided to join us, and this year, we are doing something a little different.  The ATL riders are a very fortunate bunch, having the opportunity to see places and do things that many people in the world never get a chance to see and do.  Now more than ever, we feel it appropriate to do our small part to help make this world a better place.

This year we are asking that all ATL riders and pilons make a $50 donation to the charity of their choice.  Rather than have us pick a charity and do a group donation, which would have involved paperwork and organization (the very things we try to avoid), we'll leave the decision up to you.   Just like we insist that everyone ride their own ride on this trip, we ask that you do the same with your donation.

If you would like suggestions, Otter and Tad have chosen the following organizations to which they will make their donations.  Feel free to donate to them, or to donate to the charity of your choice.

Otter's Choice: The Conservation Fund, www.conservationfund.org

"The Conservation Fund forges partnerships to preserve our nation's outdoor heritage -- America's legacy of wildlife habitat, working landscapes and community open-space. Pioneering a unique brand of conservation driven by Effectiveness, Efficiency, and Environmental and Economic Balance, the Fund produces unsurpassed results."

They accept online donations at https://secure.entango.com/donate/8ZWVVYXegXN

Tad's Choice:  The Special Olympics, www.specialolympics.org

"Special Olympics is an international organization dedicated to empowering individuals with mental retardation to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with mental retardation year-round training and competition in 26 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. "

They also accept online donations at  http://www.specialolympics.org/secure_donations_1/index.html

We feel that either of the above choices would be ideal charities for ATL riders to support, but we will leave the final decision to you.  Please do what you feel is right.  Thanks.
