Introduction: ATL 2002

If you're here, that can only mean one thing. It's time once again for the annual Around the Lakes trip, and yes we are going counter-clockwise...

On May 23rd, 2002, the ATL riders will be leaving Chicago for a four or five day adventure around Lakes Michigan and Superior. Over the last six years, we have seen this event grow from only two riders back in 1997 to a group of 27 last year. However, the size of the group has added to, not taken away from, the fun and enjoyment.

For those who have joined us in the past, you might be wondering why you should take this trip again - well, not MJ, but some of you. All we can  tell you is that since this trip began, every year has had something  different to offer, and no two trips are alike. There are different experiences to be had, different places to see, and different people to meet. Please don't think that this will be the same old trip, because it won't be. As always, it will be anything that you want it to be.

For those of you who haven't been on the ATL trip before, everything in these pages might make the trip look very organized and rigid. Nothing could be further from the truth. Riders are encouraged to do their own thing each day, and while our starting and ending points might be the same, what you see and experience in between is all up to you.

This trip can be anything you want it to be - a way to get back into touring, a way to meet new friends, a way to get away from everything for a while, a way to spend time and share the road with some old friends - but we only ask one thing. Enjoy. Do whatever you need to do in order to make this trip be what you need it to be.

As the road winds through the tree lined hills north of Lake Superior, you'll be treated to sights like this:

Why not come along with us this year and see what it really looks like. No picture can show you what's out there, and nothing short of being there can explain what this is all about.
