Introduction: ATL 2004

To all of you, warmest (literally) welcomes and best wishes.

As most of you know, we solicited your feedback last month, and from that feedback, we have decided to make a change for ATL2004.  For a variety of reasons, we have decided to push back ATL about one month this year into the warmth of June.  June 23rd, to be exact, will be our departure date for ATL2004, and while the route will be the same as last year, the ride is always different.

For you newcomers, the ATL ride (or Around the Lakes) is about one thing: you.  We may make a few phone calls, and send out a few humorous emails, and maybe even make a half-hearted attempt to send out a "route" before we leave for the trip.  Do not be alarmed at the perceived lack of direction - that is in fact exactly the point.  This ride is for you, and we cannot and will not dictate anything other than the starting and ending points of each day.  What happens in between is completely up to you, however, we will gladly make "suggestions" to you for things that we and others have enjoyed along the way.  Where you go, what you see, and how you experience it is completely up to you.

Last year, sadly, we lost Jane.  Thoughts and memories of Jane will be with us forever, and we know from speaking with those closer to her than us that she loved to ride. So too do we.  While we must move forward and continue on with ATL, let us not forget the short time that we all had to spend with Jane.  Let us also know that she is looking down upon us, and is happy to see us planning to enjoy a ride that she enjoyed so very much.  Jane will be with each of us in spirit this year as we rediscover the meaning of ATL.

As we head into ATL2004, we have the utmost excitement and happiness to be able to put on such an event.  Time spent on the road with each of you who have joined us in the past has been incredible, and we look forward to sharing more miles and more memories with you.  We also look forward to meeting and observing the excitement of the new people who will join us this year.

We're glad you're here, and we'll see you up the road...
