2004 Trip Change:
The trip will not take place over Memorial Day weekend. The departure date will be June 23rd, a Wednesday, not a Thursday.
While we know this means a third day of vacation from work, feedback received from the questionnaire showed that people were flexible - and that's good if you're going on this ride. Hopes are that warmer weather will greet us, and that those who have either annual conflicts over Memorial Day weekend or conflicts this year will be able to join us.
The resounding feedback from the questionnaire is that "The whole point is to do the trip with the group" and we hope that this change will allow this sentiment to hold true.
Let's see how it goes this year!
Donation Change:
Each year, we ask that people donate money to either a charity of their choice, or to one of the charities selected by Otter and Tad. We will be asking the same this year.
However, we will be exploring another option, and will relay this information to the group in the coming months. We will be considering the option of collecting money from anyone interested, and donating it from the ATL group, in the name of Jane Beard, to a charity that she held dear. Please stay tuned to the aroundthelakes@yahoogroups.com list for more information as it becomes available.
Last Minute Hotel Changes/Cancellations:
As this trip continues to grow, it becomes more and more difficult to make last minute changes to plans. We do understand that things change, people cancel at the last minute, and sometimes that extra long lunch break makes it difficult to arrive at the hotel "before the moose come out." However, we need to change the way that these last minute cancellations are handled.
We will close the signups for this trip on May 1, 2004 and ask for firm committments at that time. If anyone needs to drop out of the trip after that point, we will do our best to cancel the hotel rooms (or fill them with someone else) without monetary penalty. However, should this not be possible, we expect the person who has dropped out at the last minute to ante up for the cancellation fee.
Also, if anyone for whatever reason will be unable to make the hotel for the night (i.e. you've decided to stay in Wawa), it is your responsibility to contact the hotel and cancel your room. Any fees incurred will be your responsibility to cover.
All of the hotel information will be readily available to you before the trip. Please be sure that you have the name, address, and phone number of each of the hotels with you, just in case.
