Introduction:

If you've made it this far, maybe you're willing to go a little further...

Welcome to the ATL 2009 web site, your home for continuously recycled information.  However, despite the lack of a refresh of these web pages, don't think for a second that this year's ATL will simply be a repeat of last year.  If anything has been proven over the last 12 years, it is that no two ATLs are ever the same.  Each year, we see old friends and meet new.  Each year we see familiar places, and discover new places that we hope to turn into the familiar.  One thing is always for certain - ATL is like no other motorcycle trip out there.

The spirit of ATL is simple and unchanged since it's inception in 1997.  It is first and foremost about the ride, with the emphasis being on a lack of a schedule and route and a mantra of simply "ride your own ride."  The ride itself has great variety, exceptional roads, as well as interesting and awe inspiring places to see.  These alone are enough to please any motorcycle enthusiast.  Over the years, the people of ATL, their background, personalities, and the friendships established have combined with the relaxed attitude and aforementioned ride qualities to make this trip extraordinary.  It's truly like no other.

If you're still with me, then go ahead and navigate around these pages and read up about the trip details.  Please note that this is not a guided tour.  The extent of the planning is to identify the nightly hotels, provide some basic nagivational information, and then let everyone decide for themselves how they will make this trip what they need it to be.  Ride solo, ride with a group, do a little of both - this is your trip, and ride your own ride.   We welcome any and all to the 2009 ATL trip and hope to add your personal spice to the stew.

If anyone should have any questions, please post them to the aroundthelakes@yahoogroups.com mailing list, or feel free to email me directly.  I look forward to seeing you on ATL 2009.
