Leaving Traverse City this morning, the sun will be shining off the Grand Traverse Bay on your left as you head north.  There are a few small towns, as well as larger towns like Charlevoix and Petoskey where finding breakfast will be very easy.  Unfortunately, Tad's restaurant is closed, otherwise that would be a perfect place to stop for some breakfast perogis

About 100 miles into the day is Mackinaw City, and route 31 will merge with I-75 North towards the Mackinaw bridge.  Feel free to take the last exit before the bridge and stop at the visitors center.  While there are lots of touristy shops around, there is also a very nice shoreline with a great view of the bridge and the old Mackinaw City Lighthouse.  Crossing the bridge will cost $1.00 per bike, so have your money ready, and hold onto it tightly. Winds have been known to do strange things while crossing the bridge.
