| If you accidentally crossed the bridge to
Duluth last night before turning around and heading back to the hotel, then you already
know the way. Make your way through Duluth and head North on 61. If you see a
sign for Old US 61, veer right. This is a nice two lane road that follows Lake Superior
and meets back up with US61 after about 20 miles. What a nice way to start a great
day of riding. Further on up the coast are some excellent state parks including Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, which offers incredible views of the Lake Superior shoreline. Take your time and see what you find. Immediately before the state park is a small scenic overlook with an outstanding view of the lighthouse After a long 114 miles to Grand Marais, you'll be ready for the second best (arguably) breakfast place that Tad has ever eaten at on a motorcycle, the Blue Water Cafe in downtown Grand Marais. Just follow the smell of the bacon. |
